Home - Beautiful Aberdeenshire, Scotland

A series of illustrations created to celebrate my local area and appreciation of how lucky and grateful I have been to spend lockdown in the beautiful area of Aberdeenshire in NE Scotland.
'Sunset with the deers'
Nestled at the foot of Lochnagar, Loch Muick [Mick] is a beautiful freshwater loch on the Balmoral Estate roughly 8km south of Braemar. Herds of red deer are a common sight.
'Midsummer at Dubh Loch'
Part of the Cairngorms mountain range, the Dubh [Doo] Loch (meaning black lake) holds a special place in my heart, with memories of a Midsummer night camping on the beach with friends.
'Wild Swimming at Knockburn Loch'
Knockburn Loch is a special place just a few miles from where we live.  Many locals have braved the icy waters over lockdown to embrace the benefits of open water swimming in these magical waters.
'The Road Home'
The infamous Cairn O' Mount road is a high mountain pass from Fettercairn to Banchory with stunning 360 degree views of the NE Scottish coast and Grampian mountain range.  Often closed over Winter due to snow and ice, as you drive over the summit and begin your decent into the Glen Dye valley, you know you are home.
