Metropolitanka is a project created in City Culture Institute in Gdańsk, Poland, emphasizing the role of women in history, often omitted in academic, political or family discourses. The project aims to fully depict the history of Gdańsk's metropolis and the Pomeranian Region, complementing it with herstory - stories of women told from their perspective.
The logo design I have created was selected as a winning project in a contest for the project's identity.
The idea came from shapes of a circle and semicircle, commonly related to female gender. Three semicircles aligned on one axis form a woman's figure wearing an old-fashioned dress with a bustle.
A blend of feminity, chique and a historical element seemed to respond to the project's principles.
