Exploring Some Famous Alumni from McGill University

Until 2015, Dr. Muhammad Salim Ratnani served as a cardiac surgeon with Professional CT Surgery. Operating in solo practice, he predominantly performed adult cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgeries. Dr. Mohammed Salim Ratnani received his MD from McGill University, where he was chief resident in general surgery.

Founded in 1821, McGill University recently celebrated its 200th anniversary. One of Canada’s leading educational institutions, it can count a number of inspiring alumni among its ranks. For example, Burt Bacharach and Leonard Cohen, two of the most decorated musicians of the twentieth century, studied at McGill. So too did Juno award-winning singer-songwriter Sam Roberts.

The university’s famous alumni extend beyond the musical field. Author and Guggenheim Fellowship recipient David Bezmozgis earned his bachelor of arts from the university in 1996. Nine years later, the co-screenwriter of the movies Superbad and This is the End, Evan Goldberg, also graduated from the university.

McGill University has also produced eight Nobel Prize recipients, including immunology expert Ralph Steinman and nuclear physicist Val Fitch. This is only a small part of an extensive list that demonstrates the university’s commitment to quality education in all fields.
