Project: Study the topic of oil, get good & mad about it, and design a campaign to engage an audience on the topic in some way, ideally helping people take some action or become informed on the issue and relevant facts.

Solution: My campaign pulled back and aimed higher at the issue - I felt strongly about combatting the feeling of cynicism which often prevents even informed members of the public from feeling motivated to take action. I wanted people to feel that "IT MATTERS".  Using collaged text and images from my collection of magazine clippings, I created a poster illustrating my anti-cynicism message in a way I hoped would be engaging to passers-by. I also illustrated the concept of a vending machine which would dispense a line from among the set - the feeling of "collecting" the tangible items to take home would be engaging to the user. 

Everything changed this month. During the early stages of working on this project I experienced the death of someone very close to me, then just days later, the coronavirus pandemic turned our world upside down and inside out. Bringing this project to a conclusion in March 2020 was hard - that month was so hard for everyone. But I think the events of that time made the anti-cynicism, pro-community message feel even more relevant & urgent in a way I never could have anticipated when I started.
