This hand mixer is a result of a semester asignment at the School of Design in Zagreb. The goal of the assignment was to redesign an existing product.
Through research and by analyzing the product through use and observation of others while in use, I noticed an unpleasant, unnatural position of the hand and wrist. That position causes a lot of pain in the wrist and hand muscles which makes using the hand mixer somewhat difficult.  During the use the elbow is constantly uplifted, which is why all the arm muscles are tensed, and keeping the arm in that position  is difficult even without any burden.
Through surveys and conversations with costumers, I established that the things that bother the users the most are that it's weak, difficult to clean, has a short cable, and the most important, that it's heavy and that after a prolonged use in the same position the arm starts to hurt and stiffen.
For these reasons, I wanted to make a smaller mixer that also solves the problem of difficult holding and handling it. I wanted to bring the hand to a more relaxed position, without having to lift the elbow very high or using much strength.
I wanted to allow the user the possibility of choosing in which position he finds it most comfortable to use it and the option of holding it in several ways. That was accomplished by a rotating handle that allows holding it in two positions. The rotion is fixed in the desired position by using a "click" system.
The first position of the handle is vertical, as in hand blenders, where there's no elbow lifting and the wrist isn't in such an uncomfortable position.
The second position is nearly horizontal, with a slight deflection of 10°. The handle is not on the top of the mixer as usual, but with the rotation it is brought into position as an extention of the length of the mixer, in order to achieve a more comfortable and relaxed position of the hand and wrist.
Shiny, smooth plastic would allow easy and simple cleaning of the case.
The beaters are detached simply by pressing a button located on the side, in their close proximity.
The sliding speed button is integrated into the handle to make it available when using it in both positions.
