New York Mets Sign Veteran Outfielder Kevin Pillar

Based in Montvale, New Jersey, David Mindich is the founder of Thermal Paper Direct, which was named one of the fastest-growing companies by Inc. 5000. In his free time, David Mindich enjoys going to New York Mets baseball games.

The Mets bolstered their outfield depth in advance of the 2021 Major League Baseball (MLB) season by signing veteran outfielder Kevin Pillar to a one-year, $5 million contract on February 21. A right-handed hitter, Pillar will complement New York's left-handed-hitting outfielders Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, and Dominic Smith.

Pillar, a 32-year-old native of West Hills, California, recorded six home runs, 26 RBIs, and a .288 batting average through 54 games with the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies last season. He was particularly effective against left-handed pitchers, posting a .342 batting average and .969 OPS (on-base plus slugging). The eight-year veteran has spent the majority of his career with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he recorded 82 home runs, 344 RBIs, and a .262 batting average in 905 career regular-season games. He is also a three-time Gold Glove finalist.
