IN SEFL DEFENSE

In Self Defense comes from a personal anecdote: one night, about 3 a.m. the alarm of my neighbors' car goes off, minutes later several gun detonations are heard. I call the police, but they never arrive. At home uncertainty and fear was growing. I've always refused to have a firearm, but that day the possibility became real.

Insecurity and fear are a recurring theme in the media and in everyday life, terrorism, organized crime or simply the possibility of an ordinary person losing his temper and attacking whoever is in the wrong place and time keeps us in a state of continuous tension. While today we can speak specifically of geographical areas in conflict or very particular situations that threaten us, the fear of losing one's own, material or intangible, is a universal feeling that has accompanied man since his origin.

The "In Self-Defense" series consists of 10 portraits printed at 60 x 90 cm of people who for different reasons have felt the need to protect themselves with different artifacts that in some cases change their main function to become weapons. It is not necessary to see faces, fears and insecurities are reflected in body tension and each object projects the personality of the person who carries them.
