VANITAS TEPITO
OMNIA MORS AEQUAT

Series composed of 20 still lifes made from objects found in houses and streets of Tepito. These images explore the identity of one of the most legendary neighborhoods in Mexico City and throughout the country, which despite being a hotbed of great talents and stories that have given us identity as Mexicans we really know very little about it, but from the news, stories, rumors and urban myths has earned a place in the collective imagination as one of the toughest and most dangerous neighborhoods in the country.

Vanitas Tepito, seeks to create a bridge between the interior and exterior of Tepito, a neighborhood that has been alienated not only by the system, but also by its own inhabitants as a form of self-preservation under the motto Tepito exists because it resists. From still lifes created inSitu with elements found in houses of the neigborhood and details of the streets it opens a window between the public and the private, creating a link between the other and us, a mirror where the differences are erased and the similarities stand out.
