Away At Home pt.1

Rarely as a photographer have I turned my lens in any serious quest to document my family. I spend every day dealing with and considering images to pour that same energy away from the set or various projects into my time with my family felt arduous. That time was precious to me and was time I could escape and rest my eyes. A few years ago, during our first family trip overseas as a group since our childhood, I decided to turn my lens onto my family and tell our story against the backdrop of Indonesia.

Turning my eye to capture my family so intimately often left me feeling removed from what was happening in front of me, but the trade-off from stepping back from these experiences is a different kind of feeling. I have been able to immortalise special moments in our shared journey, hold still reflections of my family's character, and look back on our time away at home.

I hope you enjoy your time getting to know my family, sharing in this short story and the sights and faces of Indonesia in this 2pt series of black and white images.

Peace
