Since high school, I always had a passion for this book and now I have had a change to explore the themes of it and re-design the cover in a few different ways. A Separate Peace, by John Knowles, is about a young boy in a boarding school in the 1940s who mentally begins to create this imaginary rivalry between him and his roommate. This internal conflict and anger towards his roommate grows and it leads him to cause his friend to fall and break his leg. A lot of major ideas include confusion between memory and reality, rivalry leading to destruction, and the difficulty of self-discovery and internal conflict.
