Metropolitanka is a project focused on herstory - stories of women - in the city of Gdańsk (Poland) and the region. Part of it is dedicated to the women bound up with Shipyard of Gdańsk - a place where the overthrow of the communist regime begun, later turning into an artists' hub, where many have worked and resided. Gdańsk's City Culture Istitute is offering guided tours across the former shipyard, following the traces of female activity in the area. The visit can be made along three alternative routes, following: artists, workers and Solidarity movement activists.

 

Marking system of points of interest was inspired by old shipyard technical maps, where letter and number codes were used to identify the buildings and sectors. I have supplemented the map with vector drawings of buildings mentioned in the tour, to help individual visitors with orientation, as well as to keep the memory of buildings that are gradually torn down.
