WHAT IS A "DESTINATION WEDDING"?

WHAT IS A "DESTINATION WEDDING"?
When we organize the wedding, it is important to take care that the communication is under the same terms.
May we all be on the same frequency. That our concepts are aligned.
Just as when we talk about decoration it is important that "classic" means the same for the bride as for the hired professional.
These are terms that seem obvious. However, it is in these "little truisms" where an important part of the message is lost, which can compromise the correct execution of the service.
With this in mind, we are going to break down the concept of Destination Weddings so that you can judge if it is the type of celebration that goes with you and in which it would be worth investing:

1. What is a Destination Wedding?
Based on my search, there is no consensus on what is and what is not a Destination Wedding.
There are associations that define as destination weddings those that are carried out from 120 kilometers outside the city of residence of the couple.
Therefore, following this concept, a beach wedding or a country wedding could be considered a destination wedding.
However, dictionaries such as Oxford define a Destination Wedding as: "that wedding that is performed in a location chosen mainly for its attributes as a vacation destination."
This concept seems to me to be more spot on.
In 2015 I participated in the 1st. Assessoria meeting for wedding professionals here in Rio de Janeiro.
One of the speakers was Gabriela Carvalho Dias, who that year would represent Brazil at the Destination Wedding Congress in the Mauritius Islands, giving a talk for the professionals participating in that world-renowned event.
She explained her theme to us: the Destination Wedding.
Gabriela described them as those weddings that are held in a destination that is mainly touristy. And that deserves the transfer of the bride and groom and their guests.
And that also, in destination weddings, the tradition and part of the culture of the city where you have traveled is introduced.
For example: if you have traveled to Búzios (Rio de Janeiro - Brazil) to celebrate the wedding, it would include Brazilian food, Brazilian drinks, Rio de Janeiro style of decoration, Brazilian music, etc.
That is, a destination wedding is NOT celebrating the wedding in the same way as you would celebrate it in your city. If not, celebrate it including elements of the destination itself to the wedding.
Let destiny itself be part of the wedding. That is a Destination Wedding.
This is the definition that I find the most complete and adequate.

2. When did Destination Weddings become famous?
In the 1990s, The Orlando Sentinel, Orlando's leading newspaper, used the combination "Destination Wedding" for an article in their publication.
However, Destination Weddings began to become famous thanks to the famous. That redundant. Destination wedding costs too much. everyone want to arrange it in their budget. Destination wedding packages Las Vegas. Many packages are available for all type of destination weddings that anyone can afford.
Mainly by Hollywood actors who preferred to travel to a quieter place. Usually outside their country to celebrate their wedding. Being in many cases a mix of Destination Wedding + Mini Wedding.

3. When is it convenient to do a Destination Wedding?
It depends on the style of the couple, like everything during the organization of the wedding.
It depends on your personalities and desires, and the financial ability to fulfill them.
A destination wedding has the advantage that you are going to a place that you wanted to know, so it could also be used as a destination or pre -honeymoon destination .
Depart from there, towards the destination of the Honeymoon. Approaching the final destination.
There are dating couples who share more time with their parents weighs more on their scales. A destination wedding gives you that bonus.
Since you are not only with family and friends on the wedding day, but from one or two days before the wedding and up to one or two days after the wedding.
This makes Destination Weddings fit with those couples whose families live in different countries and want to take advantage of the wedding to spend more days with their families.
Just as we saw at Stephanie Cayo and Chad's wedding and how much fun they had in Cartagena with family and friends.
As cons, you would have that not all your guests could afford a plane ticket or stay at the wedding hotel.
Destination weddings, for this factor, go hand in hand with the fact that they are small and more intimate: those who really want (can) go and organize to do so.
So, it is worth weighing in these factors when deciding if you want to do a destination wedding.
