Palo Alto, 2016.
Lacking vision and focus on a story to tell, but enthralled by the reflexive aesthetic of mobile photography I sought to explore what was happening in aesthetic changes to the photography I was seeing emerging via social channels. It also coincided with a period of digital exhaustion. This resulted in a period of time returning to 35mm film and an old Mamiya manual slr. The camera stayed close to me for almost a full year, during which I was able to travel a fair bit and shot many rolls of film. The idea being to leave the phone and instead focus on seeing, being present and bearing witness. I found my focus sharper, my observations more acute and my photographs simplified.
