Paterson is a New Zealand importer and distributor of high-end European plumbing and tapware. As the sole distributors of GROHE, Villeroy & Boch and Keuco, the brand sits in a premium segment of the market.
Having recently undergone a process to revamp the 50 year-old brand, Paterson approached me with the brief for their new website. I designed and developed the site using a PHP/MySQL back-end to power a custom CMS. The front-end is coded in HTML/CSS/jQuery.
A few of the features I'm most proud of are the Shortlist system (explained below), the sliding Category views and the indepth CMS allowing control over the entire site.

The homepage features a sliding 'hero' area where new products or other items of interest can be showcased. This can be edited at any time by the client via the CMS.
Category views are clean and keep emphasis on the products. With a customised scrolling/sliding system based on jQuery, users can easily navigate through sub-categories without leaving the overall category page. Users can add or remove products to/from their Shortlist with one click.
The Product View page features large imagery and clean information tables. Tabs above the product allow the user to view images, spec sheets and installation instructions.
Users can create their own Shortlist, adding or removing products from anywhere the product is displayed on the website. They can then choose to request more information or email their shortlist to up to three friends.
Static pages feature their own custom designs.
Paterson staff can login to the custom-built CMS to control every aspect of the website, including Categories, Products, News and Downloads.
