THE CHAIR_
Is an experimental project based on a production optimization, applied on a chair. The advantage
of modern technology in the context of manufacturing effectiveness, blended with traditional techniques taken from the culture of origami were basic target points to make a product usable and long-lasting.
It is a self-locking chair with an end user as the final segment that makes this product usable in its full light.
It consists of three parts and it contains no screws or welds.
INSPIRATION_
_OVERVIEW
This specific project came from the idea of going further into design process
in its very essence, design of design which, in this case, means eliminating every external part used for or as a connection or stability support in a way that does not affect the quality of the product.
PRODUCTION_
Process goes as follows:
CUSHIONING_
parts, made of cushioning foam by combination of multiple density values,
are ideated to provide a sense of comfort and take a percentage of the weight
exerted on the most critical point of the chair.
_UPHOLSTERY
comes in various styles, materials and textures, from fabric to rubber coating.
It is provided with flexible magnetic sheet on the backside for easier connection with the backrest.
_COMPOSING
The simple shape of the chair is intentional.
The reason for this is that with a simple form we get an unobtrusive object that exists for its function when in use.
The very appearance of it indicates to us the possibility of further shaping as well. When it is out of use, it becomes a sculptural object of reduced lines and basic geometric bodies and as such, it acquires both a useful and artistic purpose.
