Hear and see echo

The listening exhibition at the Alpine Museum of Switzerland is dedicated to the echo phenomenon from an alpine perspective.

The exhibition directs the ears to the invisible sound space of the Alps. Scenography and exhibition graphics play with the absence of the alpine images and their translation into space and writing.

The prelude is an acoustic relief model made of echo absorbing insulation panels. The main room of the exhibition is a mirrored echo chamber with seven listening stations that convey an acoustic image of Switzerland. As an in-depth conclusion to the exhibition, a peephole wall spotlights the image- and object-shaped reverberations of echo in cultural history.

The exhibition was created in collaboration with Christian Zehnder. He is a voice artist, artistic director of Klangwelt Toggenburg and initiator of the sound archive Echotopos.
