The world's fastest game!

Jai-Alai (merry festival) is a gambling sport that originated in the Basque region of Spain. It holds the Guinness record for the fastest game in the world that is played with a moving ball. Before the ban of wagering on dog races takes effect, MCC decided to bring Jai-Alai to its facility. So a state-of-the-art glass court was shipped from overseas and expertly assembled inside the casino. Then, former athletes were recruited and trained, and in 2018, MCC Jai-Alai made its official debut. I had the privilege to be tasked with the design of the official brand identity for MCC Jai-Alai.

Final Logo

The brief was to create something sporty, modern, dynamic and also related to MCC, which is why I decided to incorporate their iconic palm tree inside the crest. The main "frond" of the tree is a cesta that is catching a ball. The ball is also the sun, thus a Miami beach sunset scene is evoked.

Linear illustrations
The use of lines to create shapes gives dynamism, movement and visual interest to different Jai-Alai elements. It also avoids the cliches of sports illustrations, so it keeps the brand fresh.

Some apparel pieces
All but the first t-shirt have been produced

That's it for now. Thank you!
