Located in the Transbay District of San Francisco, Park View Tower is a high rise mixed use project with an emphasis on residential. The site is bisected by a portion of the elevated freeway which was put out of commission by the massive earthquake of 1989. The design aimed to preserve this portion of history and integrate the remains of the freeway into the design. This was done by using the concrete freeway structure as support for the building and keeping the path they created as a public corridor which provides access to commercial space within the building. This also provided pedestrians with a shortcut to the inner-city park which is located on the SE side of the site.
