GRAPHIC NOVEL "Wo der Holler wächst"

EXAM GRADUATE PROJECT
I graduated in 2020 from my School of Art and Design in Kassel with my Master of Fine Arts, for my exam I published my own graphic novel called "Wo der Holler wächst" /Where the elder grows. For this story I researched local myths and legends and came across the initial origin of the fairy tale around "Frau Holle"/Mother Hulda located on a mountain here in Germany, the Hohe Meißner. Her characters attributes can be traced back to a primary version of her to the archetype of the mother of nature and all things. The story guides us to four places that are each connected to a different tale about her - a Menhir, a cave, a lake and a doorway made of stone. Through the eyes of an old man we meet a more ancient and untamed version of Hulda and get to know the tales behind known white woman …
EXAM EXHIBITION IN THE DOCUMENTA HALL
In December of 2020 every graduate student had the chance to exhibit their project,
and our class of illustration and comic hung their original pages and made their
books available to read digitally for the audience.
