Quiet Bat Headphone Company Monogram Design

Quiet Bat is a headphone company geared towards people who have an interest in gaming and streaming. The brand is known for having innovative, well-crafted noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones that allow the user to edit the volume of their game or the audio of the friends they are playing with through the product itself. The company is also unique in the way that they allow their users to advertise their own brand by giving them a design option to customize the color, the detailing, and even place their own logo on the headset.
The company wanted a unique, clean monogram that also gave a off a playful, youthful vibe to match what their clientele's usual interests were. I wanted to use a bold type so there was not such a distinct difference between the 'QB' and the shape of the figurative type. I utilized a design technique called gestalt to help further incorporate the bat into the monogram by using its wings as the other half of the 'B'.
This was the first logo concept I created for Quiet Bat that was rejected by the company. With this logo, I went overboard with my use of figurative type. The bat I created was too distracting due to the thinness of the type, and when condensed to a small size, the figurative type was completely lost. Overall, this design failed because I did not take into consideration what I was designing for. Logos need to be readable and understandable when at a small, reduced size. This was definitely a learning curve for me, and I took what mistakes I made with this design and fixed them when creating the final monogram.
During the process of designing the monogram, I created many thumbnails to try to capture the image of creativity and youth that the company used to describe their brand. Underneath each thumbnail, I labeled it with what typography design techniques I used to see which one helped elevate the design.
