Luces, trazos, acción was born in 2019 thanks to the creative efforts of 16 illustrators. We created a collection of 44 alternative movie posters, illustrated with our own artistic style and vision of a selection of classics from the big screen. This book contains not only art but also a look into the artists’ mind, inspirations and working methods.
I am an author, illustrator and member of the Creative Direction team for this publication.
We wanted this book to inspire a good taste for design. The pages are chromatically ordered, with each color being representative of the illustration next to it.
Within the Art Direction team, we supervised and briefed the illustration production to make sure visual standards were met.
My poster selection was influenced by a personal fondness for Art Nouveau and Art Decó aesthetics.
For The Great Gatsby’s illustration I settled for a strong yet elegant color palette and a saturated composition to remind the espectator of the plethoric parties present in the film. For Café Society, I visualised a more sober composition both in terms of color and shape. I wanted to convey my personal vision, preserving Woody Allen’s angle on Hollywood’s and NY’s high society of the 20s/30s.
