The dessert scene in Penang is very happening and you could find them at almost every turn, at ever coffee shop. Though desserts stores are becoming much more international, people of Penang always find a way back to have some traditional desserts.
This is what we call the cultural assimilation that has happened here, in Penang, Malaysia. A famous example could be said to be the Apam Balik.The Chinese vendors in Malaysia might call it 'Ban Jian Kuih' while the Malay vendors 'Apam Balik'. They originated from the same recipe!
For this project I chose the three most famous desserts in Penang by the three different main races to be made into postcards. This project required me to study and survey the Malaysian's favorite and from those, create something that could be shared among others through art - and thus, post cards.
