Porto is an inspirational city and Douro river is full of life, energy, colour and serenity at the same time. The view of Porto is so beautiful that immediately inspires me to paint. So many houses of different shapes and colours are aligned with the diversity of people and cultures that are present in the city. It's a joy to move around the city and feel all the energy that come from the people, either locals or foreigns. It's almost magical. In this painting I wanted to capture the positive emotions I get when the sun shines and take that energy to the viewer. Also, the boat is a cultural symbol that played a relevant role many years ago carrying Port wine along the river.
