WEIRD FLOWERS
At the beginning of this year (2020) - and the global pandemic, I kept telling myself, and others: "great things will come out of this". And as the initial optimism was challenged a few times, I started and kept illustrating vague, imaginary flower species.
Hopeful, realistic, significant of the times, affirmative.
As the World turns back to nature and its rediscovered role in our well-being, I took inspiration in my travel to Peru just days before the first lockdown, with its amazing nature, exotic Amazon plants, plant medicine, and explored the floral world.
Using again, a combination of a special painting technique and digital imaging,
a flower-like visuals were created. Exotic, dreamy floral arrangements, of imaginary species were given semi-Latin names - reflective of our times, and rather universal problems and hopes we're having.
Each poster is available as a limited run print.
