Infographic for Full Sail's EDM533 Course
In EDM533, Visual and Verbal Communication in Instructional Design, we were tasked with creating an infographic that would be used to promote an e-learning module that would be a virtual field trip to a town of our choice. I choose Stillwater, Okla because it is the town I currently reside and have spent the last decade photographing. For this project we had to establish an audience group of 18-21 year old incoming college students. Stillwater Oklahoma is home to Oklahoma State University and every semesters' students come to town without knowing the history of Stillwater's music scene.
To create this I used a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator. The photos were all captured by me over the past decade, with a photo of my own personal Gibson L-1 being photographed specifically for this project. I used Illustrator to pen tool the logos of the local establishments, and pen tooled a simple version of the OSU library. The library pen tool was inspired by a screensaver that OSU offers. I used black and orange for the color because it is OSU's colors and thought it would work well for the design.
Above: Preproduction sketches used to create the idea for the infographic. I am not a strong artist, but the sketches were enough to point me in the right direction, this led to a mock-up, which I will not show because I used place holder images that were not mine.
My Gibson L-1 Robert Johnson, photographed in studio. I believed the sunburst would work nicely in the design. I used photoshop to clean up and remove half of the guitar for the design. I also removed the Robert Johnson signature off of the fret board with the stamp tool.
The photos above were masked and blended into the guitar above. The photos represent a variety of musicians, from a variety of venues around Stillwater Ok. The photos were all turned black and white, and then a screen, overlay or multiply blending mode was added. All photos were captured by me.
Inspired by work done by Oklahoma State University, this library was created in Adobe Illustrator. The shape, line, and the pen tools were used to create the very simplified and general idea of the Edmond Low Library.
