Ukrainian Helicopters VR
Aviation Company Ukrainian Helicopters has performed a deep modernization of the Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters and has created a unique utility helicopter with a quick reconfiguration capability.
We have created a VR application for HTC Vive with photorealistic virtual copy of helicopter. The project based on photogrammetry and blueprints, so all helicopter units are reproduced with meticulous precision.
The user studies all the units with the help of additional information and watches 360º video with a demonstration of the real work of search and rescue operation.
This makes it possible to show the helicopter and all its configurations anywhere in the world to a potential client or partner. But without a helicopter.
Exterior
Cockpit
Since this app is designed primarily for professionals, we needed to recreate the cockpit as accurately as possible. We took hundreds of photos, generated photoscans, and repeated each avionics label one-to-one.
Interior
The helicopter can be used for a variety of missions. The module configuration system allows to change any configuration for up to 30 minutes. In our VR app, we show how it works. We have carefully recreated each module and added an extended description to them.
Interface
Assets
All of models was built from scratch. To achieve unsurpassed quality, we photographed all the modules in the photo studio, measured all the dimensions of each item, and then assembled photogrammetric models. This helped to reproduce all the proportions and textures very accurately. The total number of unique objects exceeds 100.
