Tahoma High School
Maple Valley, Washington

Design Achievement
In an effort to address the absence of a high school within its city limits, the growing community of Maple Valley, located south of Seattle, embarked on the development of the new Tahoma High School and Regional Learning Center. This project aimed not only to fulfill the educational needs of the community but also to provide ample public-use spaces. DLR Group played an integral role as a trusted partner to the Tahoma School District throughout the process. Prior to the school bond's passage, DLR Group conducted a visioning process that involved gathering input from students, staff, and career and technical education partners. By incorporating their perspectives and insights, the new school has emerged as a valuable regional resource. With a focus on advancing educational objectives, the graduates of Tahoma High School will be well-equipped to pursue further education in college or obtain trade certifications.

Scope Summary
With a capacity to accommodate 2,400 students, the sprawling campus of the new Tahoma High School and Regional Learning Center spans an impressive 315,000 square feet. The meticulously designed interior spaces maximize efficiency and functionality, boasting 72 teaching spaces and six specialized Career and Technical Education (CTE) learning areas. These CTE spaces cater to various disciplines, including auto tech, manufacturing, fabrication, robotics, health/sports medicine, and informational technology. To further enhance the overall experience, a comprehensive experiential graphics and brand implementation package was meticulously executed. Notably, the building features large-scale wall graphics that showcase captivating images curated from the local historical society, providing a sense of connection and pride. DLR Group played a pivotal role in the project, providing their expertise in architecture, interior design, and experiential graphic design to bring this exceptional educational facility to fruition.
