This project was created as a group project for one of my graphic design classes at Mississippi College. Our group was tasked with creating a promotional campaign for a hypothetical graphic design showcase. We were required to create a name and logo for the event, layout a catalog or booklet, and create other promotional items such as posters, postcards, and social media ads.

Our group decided on the name "Specular" which means "having the properties of a mirror." We thought this would be an appropriate and thought provoking name since the showcase would be a "reflection" of the work the students had done over their years in college. We expanded this idea to our theme for the campaign by using several symmetrical designs and by using a square layout for the catalog.

We started by creating sketches and ideas for how we would layout several of the items. We created a Google Drive to share our sketches, fonts, and color scheme. This ensured that our campaign would be cohesive throughout all of our layouts.

Early on in the project, we realized that communication would be an issue. This project was assigned shortly after all students were sent home due to COVID-19. We had to quickly adapt to working in a virtual environment. In order to prevent any communication breakdown, we kept constant contact with each other through email. At Zoom meetings, we would always have an agenda typed out in the Google Drive so that everyone understood what we needed to accomplish.

Overall, the project went smoothly. Our group produced a catalog, two posters, a postcard, a logo, a website, and two web ads. The mockups shown here are revised and redesigned versions of those items that I have worked on recently. I created most of these items in InDesign and Illustrator, except for the website, which I used Adobe XD to create.
