Feedback:
Lexi Thank you for your submission. Your photographs show excellent curiosity in your search for systems that integrate indigenous (in this case Cantonese) knowledge in your site. It is also excellent to see you using closeup, contextual and wide shots to uncover different aspects that we would at first not notice. Your annotations highlight several aspects of Cantonese knowledge that have been integrated including architectural elements. This is challenging, however your work would have been further improved if you could go further into the identification of systemic issues relating to your theme. As an example, when you show the Lion dance masks for sale, these traditions have been embraced as local cultural identity, are mass-produced and offered for sale as a contemporary cultural reminder possibly for tourists, thus helping the economic system. I wonder if they still have their spiritual value? Perhaps also Cantonese knowledge could extend beyond objects and you could explore approaches or attitudes. You were aware of this in your attempt to depict language. As you were also gathering knowledge, it would also be best if you used in-text citation to note references for information you acquired. In your reflection, you make some good points about the importance of curiosity and showed your practice of this well. Your writing and ideas would have been further improved by referring to some other texts and lectures that we have come across offering different perspectives on and approaches to curiosity, risk-taking and experimentation. While the text is engaging and your approach is exciting, these insights will make all the difference. Your reference list is included but in-text citations are omitted. Overall, this is a great start to DDTH and this subject will be interesting to develop. Your layout is lovely too. Well done.
