Hooray! It’s a totem parade!

Hooray! It’s a totem parade!

Mural created in a centre for adults with learning disabilities in Cambridge, UK. It took 12 painting sessions spread in two months.

The big totem depicts a Phoenix, the mythical bird that is reborn from its own ashes, and offers a message of positivity and hope to the centre's visitors. You can only see it fully from a point of view marked on the floor.

The work was designed digitally, and then painted onto the wall using masonry paint and acrylic for the bright pink details, responding organically to the building’s design as the painting time went on.

It was an amazing project that allowed me to do something for the community and met other artists who also created their own pieces in other parts of the site.

In addition, this project was shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards 2020. Included in a selection of 200 works from more than 4000 submissions from 79 countries.
