Illustrated in the spirit of the Philippines' Independence Day back on the 12th of June. This was heavily inspired by The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli. I thought it an interesting concept to play with as the Philippines is often referred to as Perlas ng Silangan (Pearl of the Orient) and the scallop is a notable element in The Birth of Venus. 

This was one of the first fully-fledged illustrations I've worked on, since usually I'd forego things like background and whatnot. I thoroughly enjoyed making that, along with the subject's clothes.
