Commissioned by BMW, technical support by 3M, as part of the Product-Service-System design master programme at Politecnico di Milano. I-ciuffo was developed in order to replace existing metallic poles located between road and sidewalk, known to inflict severe and even mortal damage to bikers if fell upon. The system detects the speed of incoming motorcycle and informs the driver (using red\green lights) about his potential to capsize. In case the driver disregards the signage and falls, the polls will absorb the impact, protecting the driver from further injury.
The project was chosen for prototyping and was demonstrated in Motociclismo2010, Milan.
