Week 4 - Persuasive Poster Design
Target audience: Young adults (20-25 years-old)
Topic: Mental Health in particular Anorexia Nervosa. I decided to do my persuasive poster campaign on Anorexia as it affects a lot of young people due to social media and the modern day society where weight loss and "the perfect body and weight" is advertised everywhere. I also am very passionate about the cause and throughout the lecture and tutorials it was advised to do something you are passionate about in order to convince the audience as well.
Process: I started by using a technique that we used in our tutorial 'Brain Dumping' where you draw as many things you can that you think relates to the topic you have chosen in a certain time frame. I then took these ideations that I sketched and made 3 different poster iterations from these drawings. I then chose one of these poster ideas and refined it in a larger version and made a monochrome and colour version.
Technique: For the brain dumping and 3 poster iterations I used a 2B pencil to sketch with. For the final poster design I started with a 2B pencil outline and then rendered it with pen.

Stage 2: 3 Design Iterations
Stage 3: Final Poster Drawing
FINAL POSTER DESIGNS
These are the two final poster designs - one in colour and one monochromatic. I am very happy with these poster outcomes and believe that their simplicity works very well in conveying the intended message. I used purple in the colour version as purple is the colour associated with eating disorders and anorexia. In the future I could further the creativity of these designs and refine them more to make the designs look more professional but this would be achievable if I had more time.
