OLD STORY
TOLD YOUNG

While Victoria & Albert Museum is being expanded there is a great possibility to prepare people/audience for a new contemporary exhibition hall opening. The hoarding along the Exhibition Road right next to the V&A seems as the perfect base to introduce that contrast between the main collection and the new coming contemporary pieces.
It was important to create that feeling of how historical and contemporary art can be fused together, creating a contemporary appearance with appreciation to classics.

ALBERTOPOLIS

The story is about the Albertopolis, South Kensington. The area itself was developed from agricultural centre up to Art and Science headquarters. Period of development of the area can be defined by buildings. Every building within Albertopolis was built in different time which allows to setup a chronological sequence to tell a story. The story starts from The Great Exhibition of 1851 represented with its host building - Crystal Palace.
OLD AND NEW

Buildings are rendered using contemporary type of writing - CALLIGRAFITTI. It put together fairly dated calligraphy characters and street style hand writing (GRAFITTI/TAGING). This style of writing allows great flexibility to manipulate characters to fill out needed space to create whole shapes.
TRUELY BRITISH

Albertopolis is a great example of British culture expressed through Art and Science.
To maintain that pure British atmosphere, old British calligraphic characters were used. Characters were modified to refresh their appearance and represent modern style with respect to classical style.
Text that forms buildings contains historical information about a building it is rendered across.
