Civic Studios
Civic Studios is a media production house incubated at MIT Media Lab. The production house focuses on creating content in the genre of Civic Entertainment, i.e. films, TV, digital content, radio content, etc. which can be used to encourage civic participation with public institutions, and thus strengthen democracy.
The challenge was to create a clean, minimal brand identity that strengthens the functioning of public institutions through civic participation.
A clean, minimal typography-based logo, the Civic Studios identity conveys a layered meaning within the letter structures of the brand name itself. The central blue dot with the pair of lines that extend above the lettering portray the human element as well as the balancing scales of the judicial system.
