Fable of Contrasts
Fable of Contrasts tells the story of my grandparents.
To my understanding, I believe my family is made up of characters, of contrasts and differences.
My grandfather used to be a scientist in the field of animal husbandry and had to often travel abroad for his studies and lectures. Now if you look at his wardrobe, it is the wardrobe of an Ivy League grad. He was fancy that way. While on the other hand, if you look at my grandmother, you find these beige and cream silk saris with borders so elegant. She used to be an extremely active person, socially. She used to be a major part of clubs and communities in a way that it made a socialite out of her. In her free time, she would go to the neighbors to learn knitting and was this amazing personality so different from my grandfather yet married with so much love.
This self portrait series stylizes their differences and hopes to send across the message of two contrasts living in harmony and complimenting each other.
