How To Hire Freelance Artists on Behance
Published October 25, 2023 by the Behance Team

Behance is home to millions of talented creatives who are available for freelance projects and full-time opportunities. Here’s our guide on how to find and hire freelance artists safely and confidently on Behance.

1. Set Your Budget and Timeline

Before you start your search for the perfect freelance artist, take a moment to determine your budget and timeline ahead of time. You will be asked to share this information with the freelancers when you send your inquiry, and transparency helps both the client and the creative find more qualified connections.

2. Search for Available Creatives

Browse through thousands of creative professionals who are available for freelance projects from our Hire page. Filter by location, creative field, tools, or school to find the perfect candidate for your project. You can also see how many projects the freelancer has completed and read client reviews.

If you’re in need of some recommendations, look for creatives who have a Featured Freelancer badge on their profile. Featured Freelancers are an exclusive group of hand-picked creative professionals who are among the best in their field. They have been selected for their outstanding portfolio and proven freelance experience.

3. Browse Creative Services

Many Behance members are offering creative services outlining the specific types of work they’re available for.

Click Services on the left side of the Hire page to browse available creative services by category. Filter by creatives who take secure payments directly on Behance, have completed projects, and have reviews, and search for specific keywords. You can also set a price range to find the service best suited for your needs.

4. Send an Inquiry

When you find a suitable freelancer whose work is the right fit for the project you have in mind, click the Hire button below their profile and send an inquiry. Include the scope of your project, your budget, and your timeline.

You can also send an inquiry from a Creative Service by clicking the Inquire button from the listing.

Inquiry

This will start a thread in the Behance inbox so you can chat over additional details, send reference files, and start a video call to discuss details face to face.

5. Review and Accept the Proposal

If the creative is interested in taking on your project, they will send you a proposal to review and request an upfront payment. Review the proposal to make sure you’re aligned on all the deliverables, budget, and timeline. Once you complete the upfront payment via Stripe, the freelancer will begin the work.

While your projects are in progress, you can view and manage them in the Manage Freelance Projects section, as well as download invoices and receipts for your records.

6. Leave a review

When the freelancer has completed the project and the deliverables have been shared, they will send you a request for the final payment. After you complete the payment through Stripe, you will be able to leave a review for the creative. Leaving a review is a great way to share your experience and can provide meaningful feedback to the freelancer. We encourage using professional and respectful language and including relevant details.
