Starting in 2019, Nike became the official apparel supplier for Canada’s national soccer teams. However,when Nike unveiled the official 2019 Canada soccer jerseys, it became clear little importance was given by the brand towards the design of the jerseys, as both the home and away jerseys lacked any pattern or graphic element which made a reference to Canadian culture or identity. Meanwhile, other countries sponsored by Nike were given jerseys featuring bespoke patterns and designs unique to each team. Canada’s jerseys were designed with the same Nike jersey template used for all the other teams, but without any unique visual additions. My intention with this project was to redesign the Nike Canada soccer jerseys, using the same Nike jersey template but with the addition of unique patterns which reflect Canadian culture. In addition to the home, away, and goalkeeper jerseys, I also designed training apparel, as well as a retro-inspired casual fan apparel collection. After completing my designs, I placed them within a catalogue, which used the same design style and typography used for the Nike website for a more authentic and professional presentation.
