The Teen and Young Adult Program at MSK Cancer Center
Steve Kanzer serves as the chairman and CEO of Accredited Ventures, a New York-based venture capital and investment banking firm that focuses on life science technologies. Beyond his professional obligations, Steve Kanzer supports the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center, which offers the Teen and Young Adult Program for patients between the ages of 16 and 30.

Teens and young adults (TYA) diagnosed with cancer can become bored, restless, or lonely during active cancer treatments, presenting them with a set of challenges unique to their age group. MSK’s Teen and Young Adult Program improves the TYA patient experience through services designed to decrease isolation and address psychological needs. The program also provides opportunities for patients to connect with their peers.

Program services include the TYA Lounge, a recreation room where TYA patients and their friends can relax or participate in activities. Inpatients and outpatients may utilize the space, which also offers weekly programming and special events such as video game tournaments, movie nights, and art classes. In addition, guests may enjoy snacks from a stocked kitchen and make use of the lounge’s collection of books, resources, and board games.
