This was the project of Embroidery workshop at Sumrasar village at kutch ,Gujrat where i worked with Ahir community.
lord Krishna features prominently in the story that the Ahir community Tells about its origin and identity.The Ahir believe that they are descendants of lord Krishna and that thousands of year ago there and ancestors live with him in Mathura in North India. they said that they left Mathura along with lord Krishna when he was on his way to dwarka however they did not go with him all the way preferring to Settle in Tharparkar where there was water and food for their cattle.
Ahir embroidery has an extensive Repertoire strong bold colour Dense embroidery generous use of mirror large motifs and an abundance of floral motifs and borders these characteristic make Ahir Embroidery distinctive .
Ahir embroidery has also been traditionally practice by craft man and of the Meghwaad Gurjar community who have leave for generation alongside the praanthadiya Ahir in the same village.....
