REGENERATE SITU FOR CITIES
Background :
Cities throughout the world, irrespective of their age, location, and economic vitality, are faced with a number of essential problems which are arguably endemic to the very concept of urbanization. From the provision of clean water and sanitation, to the availability of cost-effective and efficient trans-portation, many of these problems correlate rather predictably with population density. Some problems, however, prove far more abstract in both their causes and effects, as is the case with urban decay. Perhaps even more elusive is a reliable solution to such problems that is economically, ethically, and environmentally sound.
Setu (Situ/Lakes) has a functions as the parking lot of water (catchment area), Water catchment area of urban green an open space, soil water supplies, retaining sea water intrusion, and electricity generation. The Situ are important to reducing and controlling floods, cope with drought and lack of clean water, keeping swamp ecosystems stable (include wildlife habitats, and micro-climate of the city) and the natural eco-tourism destination.
One of the attributes attached to Depok City is the existence of Situ or lakes. These situ are gifts for this City. In general existing conditions of Situ in Depok are still apprehensive. Borders of the Situ has Inhabited by illegal houses, most of the water has polluted, there silting and mineral enrichment (eutrophication) In some Situ, the water overflowed into the settlement during the rainy season.
The zoning system is developed in order to assure the ecological restoration and the development of Buffer, Core, and management areas.
WETLAND
Their function is to collect rainy water and become small ecosystems, where native flora and fauna can take place and help with the balance of the Wetland.
PRODUCTIVE LANDSCAPE WIDTH FOR 50 METERS AROUND SITU
Local governments of Situ rehabilitate, must be followed socialization that encourage citizens participate to move (relocate), voluntarily shifted (not displaced) to better and safe integrated area and environmentally friendly. Providing habitat for endangered species and making the water system visible to the public. People will have the opportunity to celebrate water and culture within the system of decking, boardwalks, terraces and pathways. Seasonal flooding also naturally fertilizes soil, makes urban agricultural production easier to establish.
The project seeks to find the balancing point between urbanization and nature along the all Situ in Depok -
Which is currently underappreciated because of flooding, waste, and bad development.
The design solution is an embodiment of local representation and promote the idea of citizens installing
and caring for interventions and make healthier Cities, ecological and social resilience, the site can
transform into a sustainable infrastructure with a cultural identity that provides active waterfront experience.
We think The Situ are the biggest opportunity that City have.
the Situ are potentialy used to repair and healing the cities.
The idea focus on local resources rather than capital intensive
municipal programs. Small changes proponents claim, will boost
community morale and catalyze revitalization, focusing on Small,
Subtle bottom-up. We purpose the design with approaches:
awareness (community) - healing (repair) - connect (develop) -
to achive future development (big scale).
ECO-KAMPUNG
Once awareness increases, The next step is structuring Situ,either through the enforcement regulations. The arrangement and implementation concepts of Situ can be for water recreation, green open spaces, or another compatible options. Local governments Situ rehabilitate must be followed socialization that encourage citizens participate to move (relocate), voluntarily shifted (not displaced) to better integrated area safe and environmentally friendly. Eco- : a combining form representing ecology, in the formation of compounds ( ecosystem; ecotype); also with the more general sense “environment,” “nature,” “natural habitat” ( ecocide; ecolaw; ecopolitics). Kampung’ : means ‘village’ or ‘community’ in Indonesian. It sums up our project background – we all come from distant places but we’re all part of a nation community. Living is about enjoying the differences and diversity of other cultures but it also reveals how much we have in common.
Site Section
Situ Citayam as Small Part of the City of Depok, The contextual function of Situ has re-conceptualized into main goals to create positive and sustainable landforms. It can collects water and serves as a buffer for the city during flooding seasons. The purpose concept provides a refuge for wetland plant and animal species. It also creates a platform for water related recreational actives. In this way, people that live around Situ have the opportunity to change their perspective about the situ, The city of Depok will have its new CULTURE and environtment IDENTITIY. Situ Citayam - Depok, as urban organism sustainable project then serve as needles that revitalize the whole by healing the PART. stimulating environment, a variety of these aspects stimulating or encourage, the emergence fo a better, and livable CITY.
