Dystopian Book Covers

The Potential Present
Dystopian Futures
Over the progression of three months (September–November, 2020), I created a series of five 5 x 8" book covers, a semi-responsive website design, a GIF animation, and a research paper dedicated to relating pre-existing dystopian novels from the past to our present-day world. Below, you will see the final products of three-months-worth of work. The design aesthetics of this series was inspired by the prolific works of Russian Constructivism.

My dystopian theme for this thesis project was inspired by a week-long assignment I was given during my time studying at Nuova Academia di Belle Arti in Milan, Italy. (Check out "Dystopian Novel Cover Ideas" on my portfolio for more.) Both of these projects became outlets to a subconscious discomfort that I have had since reading each of the novels in each project. The similarities these novels hold with the present-day world deeply concern me and should also deeply concern you.
