HELPUSHELP
A Social Good Campaign

The main message of this campaign is to create awareness that we can help one another.

The idea behind this good social campaign is to promote comfortable and safe home environments by giving away and installing a free Heating, Ventilation, and Air-conditioning (HVAC) unit to deserving families and individuals.

Episode 1: When Jeanette was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, she was crushed. She went on remission but was diagnosed again in 2017. During this time, her husband Bruce was doing DIY repairs to save money in their three-bedroom home in Lewisville, Texas. Jeanette was dealt another blow when Bruce died, leaving her with the physical and financial responsibilities of taking care of their aging home. “Since we moved here, someone’s been fixing the original AC multiple times. We just couldn’t afford a new one,” said Jeanette who was resolved to living without cool air. Her neighbor Jennifer, a realtor, came to the rescue when she nominated Jeanette to HelpUsHelp. Jeanette became the first-ever winner of the campaign and since then, has enjoyed the comforts of good indoor air quality a functional AC provides. “I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart,’ she said. “I can finally be cool.”
Through storytelling and real human stories, we wanted to create awareness about there are people who suffer living in North Texas without AC – some even for many years.
Episode 3: When Jason and Becky Poole and their three kids settled on a house in 2018, they believed they were purchasing a dreamy home. But soon enough, they found a big fault - a broken AC that made them suffer through 86-degree heat on their first night of staying there. “It was miserable, so we called the home warranty company. They just told us, ‘We don’t fix old,” said Becky who knew that the family budget couldn’t take on the cost of a new unit. Concerned about the Poole family’s living conditions, a realtor friend Cerita nominated them to get an HVAC unit through HelpUsHelp. Now with a fully functioning good airconditioning, the Pooles are sleeping better and feeling more secure in a home with cool, clean air.
Episode 2: Jimianne works very hard and is known as a champion for the homeless in her community. Not many know that she’s a beleaguered homeowner silently battling problems in her own house for a while now. Since seven years ago, the AC in her Plano, Texas home would breakdown until she could no longer afford to pay for repairs. “I would come home to a house that’s 89 degrees and it’s really hot, you can’t even think,” she says. One day, her friend Cheryl who knew that Jimianne was living without air conditioning for years, submitted her name for a HelpUsHelp nomination. Since getting a new HVAC, Jimianne’s been enjoying a cool and purified air during the warmest months of the year. “I open the door and it still shocks me that I have cool air. It’s so wonderful,” she adds.
